Custom 2004 Chevrolet Silverado

No matter what kind of business you're in, it's good to showcase your work, especially when that work is outstanding in both form and function. Without a doubt, Full Throttle considers this '04 Chevrolet Silverado an excellent tool for shameless self-promotion.

This 1/2-ton was fit with 16.5x14-inch Weld Stone Crusher rims wrapped in 39.5x18R16.5 Interco boggers. Getting the standard-cab shortbed to fit the massive rolling stock without rubbing was a task indeed. The techs at Full Throttle equipped the Bow Tie with a sick 18-inch coilover conversion and a five-link with 1-1/4-inch Heim joints from FK Bearing.

Controlling the rough-terrain thrashing are a set of 14-inch coilover piggyback shocks and Speedway antisway bars on the front and rear axles. The killer axles are high-pinion Dana 60s by Tom Wood's Drivelines stuffed with 5:13 Precision gears and a Detroit Locker.

Turning the 39-1/2-inch boggers is done with a Full Throttle dropped pitman arm and AGR Rock Ram hydraulic-assist power-steering setup. The main shaft in the transmission was swapped out for one that would bolt up to an NP208 transfer case.

Getting the 5.3L motor to power the added weight are a set of JBA headers and an Extreme Flow intake. A Whipple supercharger pushes out about 7 pounds of pressure.

Achieving the right look was critical to making the driveable marketing device a success. Steve Martinez of Madera, California, sanded the surface smooth and shot the same DuPont Red that envelops the lifted warrior to provide a basecolor to build off.

ARC amps power a sub box equipped with two 12-inch 'woofers.

Central Cal Powdercoating layered the frame in powder that, with the use of an oven, turned to a smooth red coating. An array of suspension components were sent to chromer Jeremy Justlin's Custom Polishing in Fresno, California, to enhance the stock bumpers. A Precision grille was also installed to help add contrast to the red-and-chrome color scheme.

Inside the truck is an Alpine DVD/Navigation head unit, ARC amps, and 12-inch subs installed by Auto Sound Lab in Fresno. Finally, Katzkin seatcovers were installed by Kirk's Upholstery.

That's right. No more IFS trash to break under hard thrashing. A Dana high-pinion 60 replaces the stock IFS and is equipped with all-chrome links to hook up the antisway bar, steering, and Panhard rod.	The rear leaf springs were replaced with coilovers and a five-link suspension.	A Whipple 'charger enhances the 5.3L engine to almost 400 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. That much-needed power propels the Red Rocket's added rotating mass.
The Alpine IVA-D900 head unit is the start of the Red Rocket's entertainment system. It has a DVD player, navigation system, and MP3 decoding. XM Satellite Radio and a three-position high/low crossover equip the truck with plenty of audio/video flexibility.	The rolling stock is made up of 16.5x14-inch Weld Stone Crusher rims wrapped in 39.5x18R16.5 Interco boggers.	The 14-inch coilover piggyback shocks and air bumps were set in place of the stock suspension.
