There’s nothing worse than matting the gas, running the needle to redline, and having it dance there while we wait forever for the transmission to melt into the next gear. We’ve been there, done that, and really don’t like it. So when it came time to mate our 347hp 327ci V-8 to a turbo 350 we had lying around, we figured we better have it looked at first. We contacted the guys at JET Performance Products who said they could make our transmission the tire-chirping banger we so desperately needed, and capable of handling up to 450 lb-ft of torque. When we got to JET, Fred Nungaray ripped into it and we were surprised at what he found. This was a TH350 for a six-cylinder and wasn’t capable of supporting the power of our V-8. This story will outline how JET cured this problem and rebuilt the transmission. JET also offers a complete line of torque converters and transmissions to meet almost any application.
