2007 Mooneyes X-mas Party Show & Drag

Whether you were just curious or already well into the rat-rod scene, the Mooneyes Show & Drag had it going on this past December. The event has exploded in recent years and is now a full-on show. Taking place on the east end of Irwindale Speedway's parking lot, the event was completely packed with pre-'65 vehicles. There were plenty of entertaining highlights, including drag races, live bands, and a kickass pin-up girl contest. Also on hand were 85 vendors selling vintage-style clothing, novelty items, and classic car parts. It was a great day for hanging out, and even if you were new to the scene this event was a good opportunity to get a real feel for what it's all about.

This goes to show that a "rat rod" can be made by throwing together parts from whatever you can find in the junkyard.	There were some rare vehicles to drool over like this Chevy Apache that was in great shape.	Window-mounted A/C unit? Check. Curb feelers? Check. Rear wheel covers? Check. Big-ass chrome side pipes? Hell yeah!
	Just about everywhere you turned, there were stripers putting down some mean lines.	Last year's First Place winner of the pin-up model contest, Nikki Dodge, passed on the trophy to 19-year-old Jessica Jade (left).
The auction benefiting the Shriners Hospital for Children raised a good amount of cash with cool donation pieces like this pinstriped trash can called the "Fly Trap."
