2006 Spring California Truck Jam

The Southern California truck show scene went through a dark period a few years back. Long-running shows disappeared right around the time it was once again cool to lift a two-wheel-drive truck. These things happen in cycles. For a few years, lowered trucks are where it's at and then lifted trucks are the bomb again. Right now, things are evening out a bit, and the latest installment of Truck Jam proves it.

The show had a ton of hammered pickups and a bunch of sky'd ones, as well. It also provided a nice selection of alternative entertainment, if you aren't into staring at body mods and suspensions all day long.

OK, there are plenty of body mods in the bikini contest, but that's not the same now, is it?

Here is one of the cleanest newer Chevy Silverados in the scene. But, don't get too addicted yet, because it's going in for some more mods to make it even more radical than ever.

KP Components, along with Slam Specialties, were out to show that they are kings when it comes to air.

Truck Jam had it all. Monster trucks crushing Chrysler K cars fresh from the junkyard and a truck hopping contest that really put to rest the myth that airbags won't boost a truck in the air like a hydraulic cylinder can. The Slam Specialties hopper stood on its bumper to let everyone know what's up with 'bags. Perhaps one of the best aspects of this show, though, is that since it's held in south Orange County, you are guaranteed plenty of blonde-haired eye candy if you show up. Justin Carrillo's S-10 used to be a tame truck with a blue and yellow paintjob. Now, he upped his game with a complete revamp all around, while keeping it a single color for that clean look.	Back in the old days, GM trucks had body styles that stood for themselves. You didn't need crazy graphics to make them look good. Steve Sourapus '58 GMC proves that point with his single charcoal color.	Imagine all the tailgating possibilities with this truck! With a full audio system and flat-screen TV, all you need to do is pull up the lawn chairs and grab the cold ones.
Lukasz of Needful Thingz Kustoms brought out his Chevy Luv/Toyota hybrid. We guess that wasn't a good enough mix in this grab bag of a truck, since he had to throw a supercharger into the mix.	Tom McWeeney, designer of our pinstripe sticker sheet, finds a nice accessory for his scalloped dime.	Though it's been in hibernation for a while, Chris Call brought out his infamous body-dropped full-custom Tacoma.
